How it works

  1. Enter the URL of the page you want to check and submit.

  2. The tool fetches the page and parses every <script type="application/ld+json"> block, flattening @graph wrappers into individual schema nodes.

  3. It identifies each node’s schema.org @type and checks for the required and commonly recommended properties for types like Organization, Article, Product, and FAQPage.

  4. Review the pass/warning/fail checks for each block found, plus any JSON that failed to parse, and the recommended fixes.

What is JSON-LD structured data and why does it matter?

JSON-LD is a machine-readable format, based on schema.org vocabulary, that describes what a page or entity is — an Article, Organization, Product, FAQ, and so on — in a script tag search engines and AI systems can parse directly. It doesn’t change what a page looks like to visitors, but it removes ambiguity for machines that would otherwise have to infer the same facts from prose. Well-formed structured data is one of the clearest, lowest-effort signals you can give both search engines and AI answer systems.

Does adding schema markup guarantee rich results or better rankings?

No. Structured data is eligible content for rich results (like star ratings or FAQ dropdowns in Google) and a helpful clarity signal for AI systems, but it is not itself a ranking factor and inclusion is never guaranteed. Search engines and AI products decide independently whether and how to use the markup you provide. Treat schema as making your page easier to understand correctly, not as a lever that directly moves rankings or visibility.

What is @graph and why do some pages use it?

An @graph is a way to bundle multiple related schema.org nodes into a single JSON-LD block instead of one script tag per type — for example, an Organization, a WebSite, and a WebPage all referencing each other by @id. It keeps a page’s structured data organized and lets nodes link to one another (an Article’s author pointing at a Person node, for instance). Tools that read structured data need to flatten the @graph array to see each individual typed node.

Which schema types matter most for a typical business website?

Organization or LocalBusiness on your core pages establishes who you are; WebSite with a SearchAction helps sitelinks search boxes; Article or BlogPosting on content pages signals authorship and publish dates; and FAQPage or HowTo can make how-to and Q&A content eligible for expanded search treatment. Product and Review schema matter most for ecommerce. Pick types that accurately describe content that already exists on the page — schema should document what is there, not invent claims.

What are the most common structured data mistakes?

The most frequent issues are invalid JSON syntax (a missing comma or bracket breaks the entire block), missing required properties for the declared type, and markup that describes content not actually visible on the page — which violates schema.org and search engine guidelines and can trigger manual penalties. Duplicate or conflicting nodes for the same entity, and stale values that no longer match the live page (like an old price or date), are also common. Validate after every content update, not just at launch.
