How long should a meta description be?
Aim for roughly 50–160 characters. Shorter descriptions waste the space Google gives you; longer ones get cut off mid-sentence. The checker flags anything outside that range.
Where do the suggested rewrites come from?
They are AI-generated from your description (or your page’s content in URL mode) and your target keyword. They are suggestions, not guarantees — review them for accuracy before publishing, since only you know your business.
Why does URL mode say no description was found?
The page either has no <meta name="description"> tag, or it is added by JavaScript after load. The tool reads the page’s HTML as served, which is also what search engine crawlers see first — so a missing description here is worth fixing.
Is there a usage limit?
Yes — because each check calls an AI model, runs are limited to a few per minute per visitor. If you hit the limit, wait a moment and try again.
Do meta descriptions affect rankings?
Not directly — Google has confirmed they are not a ranking factor. They affect click-through rate, which is why a clear, specific description with a reason to click still earns you more traffic from the same position.
